THE MULLER-FOKKER EFFECT by John Sladek                       Pocket Books, First Paperback Printing, 1973                             Condition: Very Good+                                                                 BLACK ALICE by Thom Demijohn (Sladek & Thomas Disch)     Avon Books, First Paperback Printing, 1970                                Condition: Near Very Good                                                                                                                                                                EFFECT is satirical science fiction and has been compared to Vonnegut.  ALICE, which Sladek co-wrote with Thomas M. Disch, is harder to pin down -- the cover calls it "an evil fairy  tale", but it's also been described as social fiction on race relations, a mystery and a satirical thriller.  EFFECT  has light wear on the extremities and a light reading crease; else, a tight, square copy with an unblemished interior -- just some darkening on the cover backs and two ad inserts.  ALICE has two light cover corner creases, some other modest general wear and a slight spine lean.  It also has a firm binding and unblemished pages.
