This is a goldtone button--not a pin. It has no back. It slips into a button hole and I think at the collar, but not sure.  At the wing span it is about 3/4 inches across. It is about 1/2 inch across at the button where the wings don't protrude.  It is in nice condition.  I have marked it as WWII but this type of thing was not changed very often on uniforms so it could be correct on a new uniform.
