This is a fabulous artisan handmade Western style pillow created from broad weave linen duck cloth and accented with 3" of genuine soft deerskin leather fringes all around. The linen cloth is sewn around a polyester pillow form. Measures approx 16" x 16".

*Chief Joseph: Joseph was chief of the Nez Perce tribe in Northeastern Oregon. Forced from his homelands, Chief Joseph was admired by American solders for his cunning and bravery, and Joseph was latter recognized for his humanitarian nature and known as a peacemaker. He was famously quoted as saying, “where the sun stands in the sky today, I will fight no more”.

*Dapple Mare: Dapple Mare Pillow featuring a beautiful illustration of horse and mane. Horses have always been a towering symbol of historic Americana.

*Arrows: The Arrows Accent Pillow features hand painted giclee details with an assortment of arrows. This pillow illustrates how arrows could be decorated in a variety of ways. The bow and arrow were used by most all Indian tribes dating back to the stone age for hunting game and fighting.

Wild mustangs were the plains Indians most valuable possession and these magnificent ponies became towering symbols of historic Americana. Those horses were the early ancestors of many popular breads of today, such as the Paint, Palomino, Appaloosa and Buckskin.

*Canoe: The Canoe pillow with colorful symbols tells the wonderful story of early American Indians in the north country who made canoes with birch bark that was perfect because it was light weight, durable and waterproof. Canoes were ideal for travelling long distances in the streams, rivers and lakes of North America. *Deer Skull: Deer Skull and Feathers pillow celebrates the close relationship between Native Americans and deer. Deer skulls and antlers were often used in ceremonies by tribal shamans. For both spiritual and practical reasons, nearly every part of a deer was used. Deer meat provided nourishment and the hides to make clothing, moccasins, pouches and sinew for rope or twine. Antlers and bones were used to make knife handles and spoons, buttons, and fine sewing needles.

*Kokopelli: Kokopelli has been a source of wonder throughout the American Southwest. Kokopeklli dates back over 3,000 years, although his true origins are unknown. Carvings of this flute playing figure have been found painted and carved into rock walls and boulders throughout the Southwest.

*Headdress: Headdress Accent Pillow features hand painted giclee details of a warbonnet. Headdresses made with eagle feathers, had great spiritual and political importance with Native American Plains Indians, who considered eagle feathers worthy of their highest respect.

*Many Feathers: Many Feathers Accent Pillow features hand painted giclee details with an antiqued silver concho tied on with deer skin tassels. Eagle and turkey feathers were used often by Native Americans for decoration and making arrows.
