THE READING CHILD - mixed media collage 3” x 3” centered on 7.5” x 7.5” 300# watercolor paper with deckled edges. For purposes of greater clarity, only the image is shown. The Renaissance scholar peers out at us, pleased at the sight of the reading child astride a puffy fish. Two flowered dogs look on in curiosity. Dark blue tissue paper imitates the deep blue sea. Metallic stars shine down, illuminating the jeweled grass on the ocean floor. The focus of my work has been creating diminutive mixed media collages 3” x 3” centered on 7.5” x 7.5” 300# watercolor paper with deckled edges. They exhibit a whimsical or nostalgic focus, using acrylic paints, copper/ gold/ silver foils, found images, sheet music, dried natural materials, postage stamps, feathers, street detritus, magazine photographs, handmade paper, tissue and variety papers, Japanese paste papers, and watercolor papers.
