Victorian Glass Biscuit Jar, Metal Lid & Handle, Purple Flowers, French Vintage CJ-10
- Measures 6 1/2" high, 8 3/4" to top of lid finial, 10 1/2" to top of raised handle
- Approximately 5 1/2" diameter across bulge, 3 1/4" lid opening, 3 3/4" base diameter
- Victorian style counter jar for storing tea biscuits and crackers
- Translucent frosted glass with heavy metal collar, lid and handle hardware
- Lid features ornate bas relief pattern of 3 swirled scrolls and blooming roses on leafy vines
- Finial handle is fashioned to be back-to-back open rose blooms
- Rim is scalloped metal embossed with leaf scrolls, handle is a series of scrolls and waves with petal flowers at the top
- Jar features beautiful purple petaled flowers with green leaves on gold vines. Paint is textured, may be enamel.
- Unmarked; actual age, origin and maker uncertain. Appears to be late 19th - early 20th century.
- In very good condition with no visible signs of damage or repair. Some scuffs and patina on metal parts.
