This is a vintage 1957 Book Club edition of "The Mapmaker" by Frank Slaughter, published by Doubleday. The mid century novel follows the story of El Hakim, a man betrayed by his brother and sold to a slaver, who overcomes overwhelming obstacles to freedom and eventual success as a mapmaker. It is loosely based on the the story of a real pre-Columbus, mapmaker, Andrea Bianco. The antique hardback book is in great shape with the cover, spine, and pages still tightly bound. The dust jacket is in fair condition with several tears, especially on edges and corners.
