Large 1950's TIN TOY - MONKEY CLIMBING PALM TREE EMPORIUM SPECIALTY CO.

Works/Complete. EUC..VERY RARE.

MADE IN U.S.A. 17 1/2" TALL X 6.5" x 6.5".

This amazing tin toy originally came with green paper leaves and a circular cardboard support for the leaves and 5 steel coconuts (balls).

At 70 years old there is not an example of these with anything but pathetic deteriorated, missing or torn leaves and a broken cardboard support.

THIS example has undergone a Museum restoration. 8 Exact leaf replicas have been made of heavy vinyl (naugahide) color matched and pattern/size duplicated.

The cardboard support was replaced by an exact SIZE aluminum disc.  The monkey,  pulley and exterior litho are all original and in excellent condition.

No dents or color drop out. The printed EMPORIUM SPECIALTY,  CO. is clear and bold at the top of the tree.  The MONKEY and fuzzy, brown pipe cleaner tail are complete.

5 New chrome .478" steel balls have been included.

The restorer made a GREEN padded  custom pad so the steel balls don't dent the base.

The toy functions fully.  (See Video Above)

Instructions:  You load the steel balls under a circular track at the top under the leaves. By using a pulley and weight mechanism, a steel ball (coconut), is pushed by a steel push rod, into the MONKEY'S lap. Since the monkey and ball  are now heavier than the counterweight in the tree, the MONKEY descends rapidly down the tree. When he lands, the force of the landing ejects the ball into the tray.

NOW Without the weight of the ball, the pulley counter weight is now heavier and propels the little guy shooting up the tree to get another coconut, which is automatically  deposited again in his lap, and like magic he drops again to the bottom with another coconut to deliver.  This repeats until all 5 balls are brought down. What a great, NON electrical toy. A true example of applied physics and gravity.

The monkey seems to be having fun, and so will you. Great for toy collectors,  monkey collectors, physics teachers, and toy museums. Etc.
