Butterbur is a perennial herb with a fleshy creeping rhizome. It grows in stony and moist places near rivers and streams. Widespread throughout the country up to 1000 (1500) m above sea level. It is found in Southern and Central, partly in Northern Europe.

The spasmolytic action of the herb is probably due to the content of petasitolide and its derivatives. The leaves and root are applied as an expectorant and diaphoretic. In clinical conditions, the herb also has a hypotensive effect. Anticoagulant action has also been experimentally proven.

In folk medicine, Butterbur has also been used to treat gastritis and peptic ulcers, as well as as a diuretic, anthelmintic and anti-asthmatic.

How to use Butterbur Burdock root

Make an infusion of 1 teaspoon of the herb and 250 ml of boiling water for 5 minutes. Drink it in sips for 1 day.
