What this one lacks in quality it makes up in provenance and gravitas. The “real” Bill McCoy inscribes the title page with a dedication to Captain J.R. Hudgins of the S.S. State of Virginia. 

Bill McCoy was the epitome of the prohibition rum runners and the absolute scourge of the U.S. Government.  The rum Mr. McCoy illegally brought into the United States was never cut with water, or anything else, as others were in the habit of doing.  Thus, the title was born – “The Real McCoy.”  People still use the slogan to this very day.
