As you can see, the ewer is missing its top part…so the first photo suggests using it as a vase.  Very distinctive!  

Photo #6 shows what looks like a name scratched into the surface.

I was attracted to this piece by the aura it possesses.  It has the feeling of bygone times.  I wish I could hold a stethoscope up to it and listen to its past.  This is the fascination that antiques hold for us.  They are touchstones to the long ago…
