BENTON'S ROW

By Frank Yerby.

New York: The Dial Press, 1954.

First edition, first printing.

1954 date printed to the title page, and $3.50 to the jacket's flap.

The African-American author's trademark southern-set novel follows four generations of Bentons, including the Delta clan and the illicit Cajun branch who lived in Louisiana in the nineteenth century through the beginning of World War I.

A well preserved collectible.

Former owner's neat rubber-stamped address to upper front end-paper, a hint of rubbing to the lower spine edge, light age-toning to the end-papers as usual, else very nearly fine, in burgundy linen over green boards with gilt titles to the spine; in a very good plus dust jacket with tiny chips, creases and short tears to the upper and lower spine ends,  two very short creased tears to the lower edge of the rear panel; original printed $3.50 price still intact to the front inner flap.

The jacket will be placed in a quality Brodart brand, clear, removable protective sleeve, after photographing for this entry.
