- Up for sale is purple flowering teasel. Dipsacus fullonum. - Teasel is a beautiful plant that is very easy to grow. The first year it makes a rosette of leaves. The second year it can grow to almost 7' tall and has a unique flower head. - It flowers first from a purple ring around the middle of the large cone-like head. The ring of flowers grow in width over a few days, the center of the blooming section may die off leaving two rings, one growing towards the top and one towards the bottom of the cone. - Several long, leaf-like bracts branch out from the base of the flower and curve upward around the flower head. The egg shaped flower head measures 3-4" long. - Once they are finished blooming the flower head dries leaving a spectacular egg shaped spiny ball with unusual long thin arms surrounding it. These can be collected for dried flower arrangements that last forever. - Plant in sunny areas, with well drained soil.
