Title:

--   The Wonderful Adventures of Little Prince Toofat / Too Fat
-- A modern full color replica of the original 1922 children's book.

Subject, Features:

--  A delightful look into a child's world in the late 19th early 20th century.  A delightful book for Lewis Carroll fans, whimsical recipes that can be prepared and enjoyed. British style food.

"In the first place, Prince Toofat got acquainted with Himself in the mirror, and the two went through Looking Glass Land into Fairyland, where they met the great Foozlewhich, who turned out to be the palace cat, Milkeater. Then they got to China, where they met the Princess Oogalally, and all three went to the moon. It was real nice there, but they don't get married in the moon, so they wanted to come away, and the Man in the Moon showed them a door..." Prince Toofat went back through a mirror and found himself back in his own palace with Milkeater, who never said a word.

This story of a trip to "Looking Glass Land" by "Prince Toofat" and "Himself", (twins, doppelganger, ego, id) is a fantasy adventure and new friends met on the way, with wonderful illustrations by Robert Lawson (1892-1957). This was Lawson's first published book, he would later win both the Caldecott Medal (1941, "They Were Strong and Good") and Newbery Medal (1945, "Rabbit Hill")

About the famous illustrator:
Robert Lawson (born October 4, 1892 in New York City – died May 27, 1957 in Westport, Connecticut) was an American artist and children's book author. He did some illustrations for The Century Magazine in 1919, and in 1922 he produced illustrations for his first book, Little Prince Too Fat. He won the Taylor Arms Prize of the Society of American Etchers in 1931, and was the first person to receive both the Newbery Medal (Rabbit Hill, 1945) and Caldecott Medal (They Were Strong and Good, 1940).

Lawson was a witty and inventive author, and his children's fiction can entertain all ages. He developed the idea of a person's life expressed through the eyes of a companion animal, and realized it first in Ben and Me: An Astonishing Life of Benjamin Franklin By His Good Mouse Amos. Later books employed the device, which was suited to his style of illustration, to other figures, Christopher Columbus, Paul Revere, and finally Captain Kidd's Cat (1956), which he also illustrated, narrates through the medium of the aforesaid feline, McDermot, the story of the famous pirate's ill-starred voyage, revealing him in the process as a brave, upright, honest, hen-pecked man betrayed by his friends and calumniated by posterity.

An Annual Conference is held in his honor in Westport.  He is buried in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Prince Toofat is the first book Lawson illustrated.

 Other Lawson titles include:

The Wee Men of Ballywooden, The House That Grew Small, From the Horn of the Moon, The Roving Lobster, The Donkey of God, Peik, The Unicorn with Silver Shoes, The Hurdy-Gurdy Man, Haven's End, Slim, The Treasure of the Isle of Mist, Betsy Ross, Francis Scott Key, Seven Beads of Wampum, Tunes and Harmonies, The Story of Ferdinand, Drums of Monmouth, .
