This is incredible! What first looked like a nice Marcasite and sterling silver brooch became so much more once we got a closer look.
First, the carriage is adorned with small jewels on each wheel, the horses have what appear to be ruby red eyes, the watch crown has what we believe is a blue sapphire and the carriage driver is actually an angel or cherub whose trumpet has a jewel centered inside. We tried to get photos of each.
Second, the back wheels move - not well - but they do move. And the pin is able to stand up on the wheels. Again, see photos.
Last but not least, the carriage door opens from the top down to reveal a watch. We have replaced the battery and the watch is working and keeping time. We were smart enough to get photos of the watch movement. It’s just a one jewel movement and with a battery means this was made post 1957. Likely in the 1960s-1970s.
Weight is 25.7 grams with watch inside. Length is 2.5 inches.
Will ship USPS with tracking to winning buyer.
