Akneroxid gel contains the active substance benzoyl peroxide. When applied to the skin, it inhibits the growth of the anaerobic bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, which is one of the causes of acne vulgaris. especially of the chest and back.

• Akneroxid 10 – 100 mg/g (10%) of active substance.

How to use Akneroxid gel

• Always use this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
• The medicine is intended for topical use on the skin.
• Use this gel once or twice a day.
• Treatment can be started with a medicine containing 50 mg/g of benzoyl peroxide (Akneroxid 5).
• Patients with particularly sensitive skin should initially use the drug once a day, before bedtime.
• After thoroughly cleansing the skin, apply a thin layer to the affected skin.
• Don’t use this medicine on a healthy skin. After using the medicine, wash your hands thoroughly.

The usual treatment period is 4 to 10 week

Contraindications

• Don’t use Akneroxid gel if you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide or other ingredients.
• On damaged skin, open wounds, or around the eyes, mouth, or nose.
• Accidental contact of the drug with the eyes may cause redness and a burning sensation.
• If the drug comes into contact with the eyes, immediately flush the eyes with plenty of water.
• When using this gel avoid exposing the treated skin areas to UV radiation (sunlight, solariums).
