Sweet Vintage Teapot
Cobalt Blue, Jet Black, White Enameled Dots with Gold Accents
Other than the chip on the bottom lip of the spout (can be sealed for use)
and some slightly worn paint this is a great little teapot
There are no other issues other than being cute!
It has a jet black bottom half separated by a narrow gold beaded band
on top of that the upper half of the body is deep cobalt blue with white enameled dots (some missing but I think if I was going to keep I would get some white porcelain paint).
The lid is black with a cone shaped finial with 95% of its gold paint
The hole for the lid is also enhanced by a narrow band of gold dots
Note the lid eases down into into a recessed ring and is flat to the surface
The spout and handle are both black with gold accents
The bottom has a ring foot with a gold band accent
Because of the chip, we can see that it is made using a red clay overlaid with porcelain.
It looks to be signed or numbered on the bottom in gold, but I can't make out what it says.
I'm thinking its either Japan or from England Stoke-on Trent
It has a hefty weight for its size of approx 1 1/2 lbs
9" from spout to handle - 3 1/2" tall at the round body - The round body is only 6" in diameter
Even with its flaws, its a great piece that would delight most teapot collectors or users.
