A pleasingly etched 18th-19th Century dhal of typical form and construction. The plate shows de-lamination indicative of pre-industrial hand forged plate. The decoration comprises a demonic mask at the centre of a star bust, the rays of which are divided by foliate arabesque fields with birds, wild animals and the busts of nobles or warriors, all within a broad calligraphic border and applied brass rim. With remnants of the original padding.
