This item is missing the outside shrink-wrap, but has NEVER been used!  I purchased it for my sister when it first was released; but she apparently had difficulty opening the plastic lid on the container -- so, except for the missing shrink-wrap, it is like new, and never viewed!

WALT DISNEY'S LEGACY COLLECTION -- VOLUME 2 -- LANDS OF EXPLORATION contains THREE of the early "TRUE-LIFE ADVENTURE" documentary films released by WALT DISNEY between 1948 and 1954.

SEAL ISLAND was originally released in 1948, and won an Academy Award for Best Short Subject / Two-Reel.  It was directed by JAMES ALGAR, and explored the natural life of the wild seals off the coast of Alaska.  Running time is 27 minutes.

THE LIVING DESERT was originally released in 1953, and won an Academy Award for Best Documentary / Features.  It was also directed by JAMES ALGAR, and explored the natural lives of the animals and plants of the American Southwest.  Running time is 69 minutes, and it was occasionally released as a double feature with THE VANISHING PRAIRIE.

THE VANISHING PRAIRIE was originally released in 1954, and won an Academy Award for Best Documentary / Features.  Also directed by JAMES ALGAR, the film depicted the animals and plant-life of the prairie regions of the United States.  Running time is 71 minutes, and it was occasionally released as a double feature with THE LIVING DESERT.

Plus numerous additional documentaries and features are included on both discs.

All three of these films were occasionally presented on the television program DISNEYLAND during the 1950s, and are excellent additions to a WALT DISNEY film library.
