Vintage 1956 Edition of "Profiles in Courage" - A Collector's Gem!

President Kennedy won the 1957 Pulitzer Prize for Biography after its release in 1956. A 1st edition hardcover book with a collection of notable figures in the United States Senate at decisive moments during the country’s growth. Profiles include eight historical figures who demonstrated particular integrity in the face of opposition, including John Quincy Adams, Daniel Webster, Thomas Hart Benton, and Robert A. Taft. 

President Kennedy once called Ted Sorenson his "intellectual blood bank" who collaborated on the book Profiles in Courage, "assembling and preparing" much of research on which the book was based. Kennedy tried to have it published before the end of 1955 to qualify for the Pulitzer Prizes in 1956; Profiles appeared on its original date of January 2, 1956, eligible for the 1957 prizes.


This gem was picked from an estate sale, was from a collector of rare books, he prioritized early editions and printing of the books he loved, as the relative told me.  I have researched extensively, what I have picked, so may the prices should be fair and information correct.
