Antique Letter Great Depression 1935 Political Sent To Beaumont Texas State Rep.
This interesting letter is sent from a Mrs. Louise Pitts to Benjamin Edward Quinn who was the state representative from Beaumont at the time.
The letter is asking to keep married women out of salaried positions in state and county government because there are men out of work. Also that people who don’t own property and pay taxes shouldn’t have jobs funded by those taxes. That preference should be given to heads of households so there wouldn’t be so many people on relief.
