Offered for sale is an antique wooden box with a hand-painted mountain landscape. The box has a pegged construction and is European in origin. The hand-painted folk art box measures 4 inches by 2.75 inches by 1.5 inches. I believe the box dates to the period of the late 19th to the early 20th century. Very fine antique condition with some dirt and spots of paint loss to the scene on the lid. There is an old glue repair to the box itself, see photos for greater detail. The box could have been made for snuff or another tobacciana purpose. The hand-painted folk art box may have also been a decorative tourist souvenir.
