Thomas Mortimer is a well known 19th century watercolour artist known for his watercolours of harbours, coastal scenes and continental town and lake scenes, he flourished from 1880 - 1920. His watercolours are often beach scenes with figures and fishing boats and are often found in pairs. The subjects include view of the English South-West coast, Dutch and French town scenes and a collection of works painted in Venice.
This painting is a lovely example of a Cornish coastal scene.
