Up for sale is a historic 1895 Columbus Ohio Chittenden Hotel Fireproof Columbus Railway Owner Key Tag Fob
Henry Treat Chittenden, the owner of the Columbus Railway Co. started in the hotel business in 1873. After two fires, he built the 1895 Chittenden Hotel out of brick and steel making it fireproof. He clearly wanted his guests to have peace of mind by stamping his tags Fire Proof. The hotel lasted until it was demolished in 1973. Out of all the hotel tags issued by the Chittenden, this seems to be the earliest and the best looking tag produced.
The tag is made of nickel plated brass and measures about 2 1/8" x 4 7/8".
