FRONT COVER One of the most beautiful of our native plants is the Arizona Rainbow Cactus (Echinocereus pectinutu.s ear. rigidissimuss), found along the Arizona-Mexico border. This plant with its many buds was discovered northwest of Nogales, Arizona. In the second week in May, most of the buds open simultaneously and lasted for two days A week later the remaining buds opened. Photograph was taken with a Speed Graphic 3A x 4 ", Ekta-chrome, F32 at one-half second. Claire Meyer Proctor, who made this striking study. has worked with her husband, R. C. True tor, in photographing Arizona flora.
