The Silky Willow Tree (Salix sericea) is a deciduous shrub that is dark green and lightly hairy on top, and light green and densely covered with white silky hairs underneath. Mature leaves are glabrous. Catkins are sessile and usually bracteate., blooms in May and fruits in June. Silky willow is considered a good alternative to plant in place of the Russian olive shrub.

Plant in full sun to partial shade, in well drained moist soils.
