Shun Premier 6.5" Utility / Sandwich Knife - Blonde
This style of knife is often called a tomato or sandwich knife, but it’s so much more versatile than that description would imply. Of course, it works beautifully on most anything you would put in a sandwich—from meat to cheese to tomato slices.
Shun pronounced "shoon" in Japanese, means- "at the peak of perfection". Each knife is handmade by skilled specialists and requires at least 100 handcrafted steps to complete one knife. Shun Premier knives feature a VG-Max super steel core encased with a Damascus clad 34-layers of SUS410/SUS431 stainless steel, 17-layers on each side. The Damascus steel supports and protects the core, which provides toughness, and is stain resistant. The hammered tsuchime design acts as a hollow-ground and releases the food easily from the blade when slicing. Each Shun knife provides a Japanese blade angle of 16°. You will enjoy the ease of cutting the thinnest slices without bruising or tearing the most delicate foods while prepping; this ensures the ingredients to stay intact, retain flavor, and stay fresh. The blade is complimented by a contoured for comfort and control handle, made out of stylish blonde PakkaWood. Made in Japan.
A good utility knife is the third member of your must-have kitchen knife line up. In size, it’s between a chef’s knife and a paring knife, making it the perfect size for all those in-between tasks. For trimming green beans, broccoli, and other jobs where you need some precision, your utility knife is an excellent choice. Any time a paring knife seems like too little and a chef’s knife too much, reach for a utility knife. The Shun Premier Utility Knife offers a razor-sharp six-inch edge that also makes quick work of anything that goes in a sandwich—meats, cheeses, tomato slices, and more. That specialized use is why this style of knife is sometimes called a sandwich knife. You’ll also love the secure grip the ambidextrous Premier contoured handle provides.
