WWII, 2nd REGIMENT, NEW YORK NATIONAL GUARD, PLASTIC COLLAR DISK, ENLISTED, GILT

This plastic collar disk was for the enlisted soldiers. Pin back. There is some camera glare on this disk. These plastic collar disks were short lived.

During WWII the availability of metal became crucial and alternatives to metal use for insignia was studied. The use of plastic substitutes for collar disks was thought to be one way to reduce the demand for metal.
