JACKIE ROBINSON: MY OWN STORY
As Told by J. Robinson to Wendell Smith
Greenberg: Publisher, 1948
First Edition (Softbound)
Condition: About Very Good

This biography, in basically Robinson's own words, was the first one on the baseball great after he broke the Big League color barrier. He tells of his childhood, how he became a football hero at U.C.L.A., his service in the Army, his rookie days at Montreal, then his big chance with the Dodgers and how it felt to star in the World Series. The 172-page book includes 48 pages of photos. This is the trade paperback edition, published simultaneusly with the hardbound First Edition. The spine and inner edges of the covers are color-faded, there is some moderate edge wear, a corner crease and some spots of cover rubbing. The interior is in nice shape, with secure binding and minimal page tanning. An important sports biography!
