My mother always had a deck of ordinary cards because she was very good in reading future with them. When she was only a teenager in early 1930s in Manchuria, Northern China, various people would already come to her to ask for advise. And from her, from by very young years, I got my love for cards. I loved cards, ordinary cards, and would ask my parents to buy different decks. I would look at the cards, make up stories with them as if they were different people and events, and these cards would become my invisible friends. Gradually, the love for collecting cards began to shift when I received as a gift, my first deck of Tarot cards. The man who gave me was an initiate of several mystery schools and he gave me a deck. That was in early 1970s. I would take this deck with me when taking the train and would discretely look at them, mentally playing with them. Without my noticing, the Tarot cards began to take a life of their own in my mental amphitheater. All I had to do was to empty my mind and let the Tarot cards, like some autumn leaves blown by a gust of wind, gently fall upon invisible spiritual sands in my mind. That is how I became friends with Tarot cards. Gradually, my collection increased and includes some rare decks that are hard to find now.
