This unique, antique violin of the Chappuy school is circa 1780 from France. Simply fantastic. Here is your opportunity to own and play on a wonderful two hundred forty-two (242) year old ancient violin. Its before the time of French Revolution. Before Napoleon became an emperor. Paganini, Brahms and Tchaikovsk were not born yet. Beethoven was 10 years old. Mozart was only 24 years old.
It comes with a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. It looks fantastic despite its old age. Simply amazing.
A splendid workmanship. The top is made of two parts of spruce, and shows regular grain lines. The back is made of two parts of flamed maple, the curl descending from the center joint. The ribs and head are of the same wood. The head has been beautifully grafted on a new neck. The instrument shows a great character, with f holes and corners in the style of Chappuy. The violin is covered with an orange-brown varnish on a golden ground. The violin has a deep, mature and warm sound. This violin will allow you the most complete repertory.
Body length : 364 mm. Upper bouts : 169 mm. Middle bouts : 117 mm. Lower bouts : 211 mm.
The violin is in a restored condition, with many repairs on the top and ribs. The head shows pegs bushings. The button of the neck has been changed (a master french work).
The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a new tailpiece, a new chin rest, a new Despiau bridge and a set of Thomastik Dominant strings. The pegs with gold olive ends are slightly older (late 20th century probably). The instrument comes with a new rectangular case of quality.
A wonderful instrument for a sophisticated collector, an experienced musician, a special gift to your loved one or an upcoming musician. An appreciating asset. The price keeps going higher and higher. because (1) of the higher demand and limited supply (they don't make any more 240 year old violins), (2) ongoing inflation with unlimited money printing, (3) currency debasement with never ending quantitative easing, (4) you want to protect your WEALTH. Buy it NOW because its the best thing you can do. I may trade it with Real Property (and pay the difference).
If you are a musician, this will be your retirement. Play now and sell in 20, 30, 40 years and retire with the proceeds. Also, you better buy NOW otherwise you will not be able to buy in the future as the prices go up.
NOTE: Serious inquiries only with proof of funds. I may buy your real estate (condo, house, land) and pay you the difference.
