Vintage original 8x10 in. U.S. single-weight glossy photograph from the classic and important World War I drama, ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, released in 1930 by Universal Pictures and directed by Lewis Milestone. Based upon the famous novel by Erich Maria Remarque, this gripping and well-crafted early sound drama tells the story of a young German soldier (Lew Ayres) who faces the profound disillusionment during the soul-destroying horrors of World War I. The film went on to win the coveted "Best Picture" Academy Award, among others.

The image features a medium shot of the local village postman, Herr Himmelstoss (John Wray), delivering mail to the town butcher at the start of the war. Affixed to the bottom of the verso is a paper snipe caption on pink stock that reads: ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT - Himmelstoss: "This is my last mail I deliver." Printed on single-weight stock with a glossy finish, this vintage original photograph is in good- condition only with a diagonal chip and signs of wear on the top left corner; four small unobtrusive creases in the upper portion of the image area; several creases of varying sizes in the top of the right border; light signs of wear on the bottom right corner; a 1/8 in. vertical tear on the bottom border near the right corner; two small diagonal creases on the bottom left corner; a 1 in. horizontal tear in the bottom half of the left border; a 0.5 in. horizontal tear with signs of wear in the top half of the left border; and some light discoloration in the top half of the left border. The image quality is very sharp with fine detail and nice contrast.
