The Pink Spiders' debut album 'Teenage Graffiti' for the Geffen Records label is filled with attitude, great hooks and guitar driven rock. From the opening song 'Soft Smoke,' the band blends a mix of punk, pop and rock that reminds of past great rock bands from Def Leppard to Cheap Trick with a bit of the Rolling Stones' attitude thrown in for good measure. The group released their first EP 'The Pink Spiders are Taking Over!' in 2004 which led to them being signed by Geffen Records in 2005. The Nashville rockers have a unique and unmistakably catchy sound, and the album is filled with one great song after the next. Each song features hard guitar riffs, and catchy lyrics. The band never lets up on the pace, and rock fans will not be disappointed with this release. 'Teenage Graffiti' is a ROCK album and the band seems to be content not concerning themselves with trying to fit into one genre of music. It is filled with songs that describe the band's chaotic life of touring non-stop. The lead single 'Little Razorblade' is a radio friendly guitar pop tune (that smacks of Cheap Trick), but the album also benefits from more harder rocking songs like 'Nobody Baby' which leans more to the guitar rock/punk genre. The Pink Spider's 'Teenage Graffiti' is an album that I would highly recommend to any fan of rock. I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I put the album on, but was hooked on the band by the second song. It is simply a great debut album and leaves you wanting more.
