Here's a rare, wonderfully hand carved, antique bucket up for bid
Most likely dating back to the early 19th Century, this piece has an incredible patina and detailed carving.
Carved from a single log, its bottom is now missing.
It has a carved divot on one edge and a hole carved near the top- Purchased in Vermont in the heart of maple sugaring country, it may have been used to collect maple sap......just a guess..
There are hand wrought small closed like hooks on both sides- perhaps for a handle as well as a metal pin to perhaps plug a very small surface hole....
Solid and structurally sound
It measures 8.25"  high and has a bottom diameter of about 6 3/4 inches.
Displays beautifully as a true piece of Folk Art!
