Item description
This listing features a handmade Native American weapon that has a 5 1/2' by 5" hand chiseled stone blade afixed to a 22" manzanita wood handle that also has a leather hand or belt loop. Also included is an oak and rawhide fighting shield that measures 20" by 10" and is made from animal skin that has been stained with a unique Native American design. We're not positive as to the age of these two items, but judging by the aged animal hide on the shield and the leather loop on the fighting axe, these are both fairly old.
As for tribal affiliation, these were purchased at an Old West auction in far Northern California, about an hour from the Oregon border. Our last image shows a Native American tribe card that points out what Indian tribes lived in what areas of the United States. On that graphic we have circled in black the tribes that are native to the area where we purchased these two items. The tribes are Pomo, Wintu, and Yuki.
