The 50th state is the fastest growing automotive market of any, with 309,907 vehicles registered, of which 273,700 are cars. Total registrations ranks it 45th among the states. Its 7.2 per cent increase last year topped all other states.
Hawaii has 362,000 licensed drivers. Driving its 3,128 miles of surfaced roads, they burn up 180,798,000 gal. of fuel a year.
In the island state, there ore 379 service shops, 192 of them doing general repair work and 78 body work. Gas stations number 442. Car dealers total only 17. There are 44 jobbers.
