Item description
Vintage 1950s Fisher Body General Motors How Can You Lose Employee Suggestion Plan Booklet GM Automotive Ephemera
Original vintage Fisher Body employee booklet titled How Can You Lose? promoting the General Motors Suggestion Plan. This colorful mid-century booklet encouraged Fisher Body employees to submit ideas for improving manufacturing, products and workplace processes in exchange for cash awards.
Inside, the booklet states that GM was paying more than $3 million in suggestion awards annually and had paid more than $22 million since the program became corporation-wide. It features wonderful period illustrations throughout in green, gray, black and cream, along with information about employee awards and the Fisher Body suggestion program.
The back features a quote from General Motors president Harlow H. Curtice about the "inquiring mind." GM advertising was using Curtice's inquiring-mind theme by 1956 and continued it in 1957, supporting a circa 1956-1957 date for this booklet. ([Caltech Magazine][1])
A particularly fun piece of original General Motors and Fisher Body history with strong appeal for automotive, GM, industrial, advertising and mid-century ephemera collectors.
