According to HP this is not a supported processor for this laptop.
However I checked the specs for the processor compared to the Pentium P6100 that was standard, and they seemed compatible.
Was careful to update the BIOS first, take static precautions, and renewed the heat sink compound.
The CPU on my laptop (literally) runs twice as fast. Makes a big difference. Not bad for $20.
