Congratulations, you have discovered that the 4000 series* Genelecs are available used at very good prices and are sonically identical to the corresponding 8000 or G series speaker. But how does one connect those pesky Phoenix connectors to your sound system? Never fear, a solution is here! These adapters plug directly into the Phoenix (Euroblock) connectors on the Genelecs, and provide a standard RCA-type female connector. Your 4000 series* speaker is now equivalent to the corresponding G series home speaker. This sale is for quantity two (2) adapters. These work with the following Genelec Speakers (~1/8" pin spacing) 4020 4020B 4030A 4030B 4040A *NOT ALL 4000 series Genelecs use this connector. In order to use this adapter the spacing between the pins should be just over 1/8" and the pin-out as shown below. Compatible speakers use a 5 pin Phoenix Connector with the following pin-out: ^1 Control ^2 Control 3 Audio (Common) 4 Audio (+) 5 Audio (-) ^Not present on adapter - adapter should be inserted in right-most positions on speaker (pins 3-5). NOTE: 3 pin adapter is designed to connect to pins 3, 4, 5 only. As recommended by Genelec for unbalanced connections, pins 3 and 5 connect to the outside of the RCA with Pin 2 connecting to the center pin. These will NOT work with the 4020C, which uses a different connector. Keep in mind that Phoenix connector pin-outs are not standardized. For that reason, it is unlikely that these adapters will work with devices other than those listed above. Please contact me with details on your equipment if you have questions.
